From Te Kaiw’aka’aere: The year 2023 has been
2023 - what a busy year it has been!
A major body of work for the tari and our uri was the Review of the Deed of Trust. It is important always to reflect on the history of Ngāti Ruanui.
The settlement of 2001 was monumentous and ground breaking for its time, to review the deed was also to rejuvenate and educate us all on our purpose and to ensure our legacy for generations to come.
On behalf of the tari we thank our uri for their feedback, their participation and ultimately their support to update the deed.
Other highlights for the year include:
completing the Marae upgrades for Meremere Marae, Wai-o-Turi Marae, Pariroa Pā and Ngārongo Marae
hosting another successful Pūanga Festival Day
increasing participation at Taranaki Tū Mai 2023
record breaking harvest of the Berry Farms
the Maunga Settlement
upgrading our website to sell merchandise and to place more communications online
collaborating with Ka Uruora
We are excited to announce Te Ra o Ruaputahanga is back in 2024. We look forward to bringing regular updates on the event which will be held at the TSB Hub from 18th – 20th October 2024.
We will also have the election of Pou Tuara for the next governance term which will also take place in October. We encourage all uri to have kōrero and consider running to be a pou tuara representing your ‘apū. It’s a great opportunity to contribute, give back to your iwi and guide the strategic direction of our operations.
